Why give footballs?
Our founder, John Haycock comes from Africa and runs Africa Explorer a tour operator in London specialising in mid-market safaris and holidays in many parts of southern and central Africa.

He is used to the FAQ from people as they prepare to go to Africa on safari, holiday or to do business: 'What the best thing I take as a gift?'. In the past the answer has been pens or T-shirts, or good clean clothing. But each of those tends to be gifts for individuals and to be frank, can cause jealousy.

The design is eye-catching!
With the FIFA World Cup coming to Africa, it seemed that a football was the answer: so he designed balls in the colours of the flags of many African states and some are on sale, click here to buy.

The need is there
"As I travel around Africa, I am constantly aware that football keeps kids off the streets, promotes a healthier life and provides an essential link in the greatest tenet of African life, UBUNTU, the care for all humanity by humans.

Watch how Africans always share a gift, if they can, and enjoy the sight of hundreds of children playing football. It inspired me, seeing thousands in the foothills of the Drakensberg, on the Cape Flats, in the deserts of northern Namibia and on the still-bushy fields of Zambia; all playing with one of our balls. And now you can find our balls in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Tunisia and many other African states."

Our aim
Footballs For Fun is a charity that aims to get 100,000 footballs to the children of Africa by the end 2010, while at the same time generating funds to support charities working for the welfare of children in Africa.

Our footballs
Are often available in the colours of an African country; check with us to see what is coming into stock.

Buying in quantity
Because we make no profit on balls, there is no discount for bulk purchases. However, for orders for 250 light weight balls at £10 each plus delivery, a logo and message can be printed on the panels. The colours on the balls can also be customised to your requirements. This is ideal for promoting your business. It is possible for several small businesses to share the cost of 250 balls and each can have their logo on the balls. For customised leather balls the minimum order is 100 balls at £17 each with a small charge for having a logo overprinted on the balls.

The charity
All profits from all sales are handed over to Footballs For Fun Trust, a UK Registered Charity number 1129104, that is responsible for managing and distributing the accumulated funds (see Charities).
