Footballs For Fun® is a charity that produces footballs for travellers to give to African children – with all the profits going to help needy or sick children in Africa.

WELL, WOULD YOU LIKE TO RIDE SO FAR??
On 12 February, Dickon Broadhurst with three friends, embarked on an epic journey TO CYCLE from Cairo to Cape Town in aid of Footballs For Fun and LandAid.
He plans to arrive in time to join in the World Cup festivities and give away lots of our footballs to children in Africa. He is also being sponsored and hopes to raise at least £20,000 for his charities. Can you sponsor him? Please go to his website and follow his progress www.cycletothecup.co.uk. So far it’s been an amazing achievement of determination and courage. We wish him well.

He has already raised enough money to buy 100 footballs for Neil Morrissey to be give away on ITV’s “Men Brewing Badly” series about Neil and his friend, micro brewer and passionate beer-lover, who are travelling across Africa in a Bedford truck to arrive in South Africa for the World Cup. In the truck Richard Fox has a supply of English beer so that locals he meets along the way can understand why the England team will probably win the World Cup. Keep an eye open for this forthcoming series.

JONATHAN DIMBLEBY SUPPORTS FOOTBALLS FOR FUN
Thanks to good friends, we were alerted to the fact that one of Britain’s most famous broadcasters was off to Zambia to make some films.

In the process, Jonathan Dimbleby behaved like countless tourists and went to a football match and gave away some of our balls.

Our photo shows Jonathan Dimbleby with Abel Chilundika & Kennedy Chalwe (Kennedy is the guy in the striped shirt), key players in Kasalamakanga United

CAPE TOWN HELPS FOOTBALLS FOR FUN
On 11 June the opening match of the World Cup will kick off in Soweto’s iconic calabash-style stadium, and a few hours later, France and Uruguay will commence their series of matches in Cape Town’s stadium.
Cape Town Tourism and Cape Town Routes Unlimited have shown faith in the power of Footballs For Fun and have bought footballs for use in this exciting run-up period to the first kick off.

Of course getting to South Africa on the World Cup is, for many people, an unfulfilled dream, but for those fortunate enough to make the trip, it will be a relaxing overnight trip in the comfort of one of the world’s leading airlines. We can’t name them, saadly. This airline has bought balls from us, but we’re not sure if any are destined for the public, so why not ask at check-in, if you can have a sparkling new soccer ball?
